Advisory Election
The Ballot
All property owners in Green Valley will receive a ballot in their mailboxes in the coming days. These ballots must be postmarked for return no later than August 31, 2026.
Important notes:
- This election isĀ advisory only, meaning the Board of County Commissioners will use the results as one of many data points in its decision about our future. The decision remains theirs and theirs alone.
- The Board of County Commissioners determined the manner and eligibility for participation in this vote.
- Only listed property owners may vote; renters and other residents may not.
- Business owners who own the land under their business may vote.
- One person gets one vote, regardless of the number of properties or businesses owned.
- In the case where multiple people own a property, e.g., husband and wife, each owner gets one vote; all ballots will arrive in one envelope.
- Because this is not a statutory election, it will not be managed by the County Clerk.
- Voters need only own property and are not required to be registered to vote in other elections in Pottawatomie County or anywhere else.
- Ballots are numbered to prevent the return of duplicate ballots; this is not a statutory election; its results have no force in law; therefore, it is not a true secret ballot.
