The pre-filled values represent one possible scenario. Create your own scenario by adjusting any of the line items. Ad Valorem (property) tax is computed by subtracting the projected expenses from all other revenue sources. From this, the calculator divides the budget balance by the assessed value for property in the city to determine the mill levy. You can then enter this mill levy into our Property Tax calculator to see what this would look like on your residential property.
*Net Mill Levy Change indicates the increase or decrease after removing the Rural Highway System and Blue Township mill levies, which will no longer apply.
**Vehicle Taxes are estimated using Wamego’s 2026 budget numbers.
†Countywide Sales Tax is the city’s share of the total county sales tax collected across the entire county. This is determined by assessed valuation and population. The number provided here is a rough estimate based on Wamego’s 2024 numbers, which are very similar to Green Valley’s.
We assume zero city sales tax in this scenario because we do not currently have an estimate of taxable sales in the city. Any sales tax revenue would offset ad valorem/property taxes required for the city budget.
‡Franchise/Right-of-Way Fees are computed using conservative estimates for telecom, gas, and electric utilities within the city.
