Why should we incorporate?
Incorporation of the Green Valley Area into the city of Green Valley will give citizens of the community their own voice. As a city, we would be able to control how much we want to pay in taxes and where those tax dollars are spent.
In documents provided by the county, if the Green Valley Area is annexed by the city of Manhattan, the average Green Valley home would see an increase of approximately $900 in their 2018 property taxes. If we became part of Manhattan, we would be competing with various other neighborhoods for a share of those limited dollars.
By incorporating, we would have access to all of the funds raised by our own city for any projects that we desire.
